Does anybody know a website that says what the difference between a fake and real Chi flat iron is? I bought the Pink one (breast cancer awearness SE) from ebay tonight and I have been trying to research this and the only thing I found, Is that the real one have a safety plug (like on hair dryers) and the fake ones dont!! if any body can help out that would be great.

Thanks,

I just bought a CHI flat iron from eBay, how can i be sure its not a fake? anybody have pictures or something?

I don't know if they make fake CHI's but it should heat up quickly, get very hot, and straighten very well. However, I have been hearing about people having problems with their CHI's right after the warranty.

1. A swimming pool requiring a 2.0 hp motor to filter and circulate the water runs for 18 hours a day. What is the monthly electrical cost for running this pump if electricity costs 10 cents per kWh?

2. Is it possible for two people to simultaneously operate 1,300 W hair dryers on the same 120 V circuit without tripping a 15 A circuit breaker? Explain.

3. What is the force between two balloons with a negative charge of 1.6X10 -10 ?

4. An inflated balloon is rubbed with a wool cloth until an excess of a billion electrons is on the balloon. What is the magnitude of the charge on the balloon?

5. A step-down transformer connected to a 120 V electric generator has 30 loops on the primary for each loo0p in the secondary. (a) What is the voltage of the secondary? (b) If the transformer has a 90 A current in the primary, what is the current in the secondary? (c) What are the power input and output?

Your question about the 100:1500 step-up transformer got cut off, so I can't help you with that one.

1. First, convert the 2.0 horsepower into kiloWatts. Call this value "P", the power of the motor.

The monthly energy use is:

kW-hr / month =

P x (18 hrs/day) x (# of days per month)

For # of days per month, you could just use 30.

Finally, take this number and multiply it by 0.10 $/kW-hr, to get the monthly cost in $.

2. First, figure out how much power P the circuit can handle:

P = V I

where V=120V and I=15A.

Next, use the fact that two 1300W dryers is a total power of 2600W. Is 2600W more than or less than the number you just calculated from the P = V I equation?

3. Not answerable. It depends on how far apart the baloons are from each other.

4. Look up the charge of a single electron. It is probably listed on the inside back or front cover of your textbook.

Next, multiply that value times one billion.

5. This is a 30:1 step-down transformer.

(a) The secondary voltage is (1/30) times the input voltage of 120V.

(b) The secondary current will be 30 times the current in the primary, ignoring losses due to the resistance of the wires.

(c) The input and output powers are equal, again ignoring losses due to the resistance of the wires. To find the value, use

P = V I

for either the primary or secondary.

Have you ever tried......???

to construct one of those windy, money floaty, grab booths in your living room using hair dryers and leaf blowers?? Due to lack of paper money did you use your ol' spare change but its just not as cool because the dammmm pennies wont float up?? How awesome are those things anyway??

Have you ever tried......???

We put our friend in something like that, except we had no booth, no hair dryers or leaf blowers, and no paper money. All we had was an old coffee can full of pennies, so we started throwing them at Steve hand fulls at a time. Come to think, it was nothing like those booths, sorry.

Electrical plugs problems [Europe]?

I am leaving to Europe for the first time and I just realized that their outlets are two little rounds dots and thats not good at all considering that I have cameras to charge and hair dryers to use. Anyone has any suggestiongs pertaining to what I should buy to have the equipment work?

Electrical plugs problems [Europe]?

Unless you can change your voltage on your camera, etc. from 110 to 220, the adapters are not going to do you any good. The difference in your voltage will burn your electronics up. I lived in Europe for over 6 years. I plugged in a curling iron with an adapter and it melted. If you can change your voltage, then no worries. You can purchase the adapters in Europe. Have a safe trip.

Electrical plugs problems [Europe]?

You need a UK 3 pin plug to European 2 pin plug adaptor. I had to get Euro to UK for a French phone. Other thing to consider is voltage. UK is 220-240v. Some of Europe may be 110-120v.

if ur phone was switched on when it got wet chances of it surviving is very slim.if it was off then ur safe coz then u just need to dry it and 85% ur phone wud be back to normal.next time u get wet, turn off ur phone k.and maybe you might wanna take it to the professionals. for the ipod, the lcd screen is the least sensitive part of the ipod. try leaving it on for a day in breezy place or under the table light and check d next day as some water mist mught still be there. it happend to me b4..

Anyone know where I can buy a power adapter for europe?

I'm going to europe in three weeks and I need a power adapter so I can charge my Ipod video.

I'm going on a budget so I don't want to spend a ton of money but I also want one that won't cause my Ipod to blowup or anything like that.

Amazon is'nt much help everything they have is for things like hair dryers and iron or phones but nothing that says the adapter works for something like a PDA or an Ipod.

Any sugestions would be great thanks.

An adapter works for all electrical devices...just plug it into the outlet and plug your device into the other end. Walmart has them near the suitcases and travel items.

What kind of electrical outlet (plug) is used in Australia? Is it 240 volts? is it the same plug as in UK?

In Australia the current is 240 volts, but the plugs %26amp; sockets used are different to those in the UK. You will either need to get a plug adaptor or, if coming to Australia for longer than a holiday, think about getting the plugs on the appliances replaced.

What kind of electrical outlet (plug) is used in Australia? Is it 240 volts? is it the same plug as in UK?

they use different adapters so no you wouldnt be able to use those products in australia. I know this because i work at radioshack and we have had customers come in and ask for them, and after checking if they really needed them it showed that they did.

What kind of electrical outlet (plug) is used in Australia? Is it 240 volts? is it the same plug as in UK?

it is 240 volts. Check your hair drier to see if it has a 110 to 240 volt toggle switch. If yes and you have the parallel pins on the plug as in the US, you can just bend them slightly to fit the socket from this "I I" to this "/ \" shape. Otherwise I think you could cause some damage.

What kind of electrical outlet (plug) is used in Australia? Is it 240 volts? is it the same plug as in UK?

Hello We use 240 volts in Australia The plugs used are 3-pin %26amp; 2-pin with the pins offset on an angle (like a letter Y) I belive they are the same as English plugs but different from US Americans have the two pins that are parallel Regards from Down Under-Steve

What kind of electrical outlet (plug) is used in Australia? Is it 240 volts? is it the same plug as in UK?

The others are right re voltage and plug shape.

You can use your UK hairdryer (if you have an adaptor) but the extra voltage will fry your US hairdryer as it's built for 110v.

Bring UK applicances but leave the US ones at home unless you've got a built-in transformer (like all Laptop computers do).

Australia has 220V-240V. More information about the type of connectors can be found in the weblink beneath.

What do I need for UK electrical equipment in Brazil?

Hi we are going on holiday to Brazil and staying at the Super Club Breezes Hotel in Costa De Sauipe where they have 220 v AC but while we are in Brazil we are planning on also visiting Rio and Iguassu Falls where we understand they have 110 v AC. What exactly will we have to buy and take with us so that we can use UK hair dryers, phone chargers and other assorted electrics. Thanks AJ

What do I need for UK electrical equipment in Brazil?

The usual in most of the country is 110v. The only catch is the outlet plug, even though they use both, the 2 round ones or flat, the flat ones over there are exactly the same width, so it won' t fit US equipments which have one side wider than the other. Another problem is laptop computers, if yours has that third plug you will need an adapter. The best thing to do is buy an universal outlet adapter. I bought mine at a duty free shop for about ten bucks and I can use it world wide. But if your problem is also the voltage, you will need to buy an electric adapter to convert from 110 to 220v or vice versa(depends of what kind is usual in UK), which is pretty big and heavy to be carrying around.

What do I need for UK electrical equipment in Brazil?

Am really sorry AJ but I don't know. When I moved to Brazil I moved from Germany where I grew up so I can't say what you will need for english equipment to work there. I think however I have come across this question before and if you search the answers you might find it...again sorry I can't help you further

What do I need for UK electrical equipment in Brazil?

All you need is an adapter, but the hotel you are staying at will provide one for you, upon request.

What do I need for UK electrical equipment in Brazil?

Hi there. I moved to Brazil from England. First off I had to change the plugs on all appliances because the width between the pins was not the same. Then I needed converters for 220v to 110v and each one is so heavy it requires both hands to lift it. Just getting an adapter plug is no good if you need the converter as well. I would just forget about bringing any appliances from England. Most hotels have a hair dryer in the bathroom. For the phone charger the hotel might be able to provide a converter. Not worth carting one around. Incidently I have stayed at Sauipe and your hotel is a very good one.Enjoy your holiday!

What do I need for UK electrical equipment in Brazil?

You'll need one plug adapter and one voltage transformer as well. If your equipment is "bivolt", then only the plug adapter is needed.

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

I have got natural shoulder length dark ,a bit wavy hair, I want to make it seem like those wet waves of Vanessa Hudgens, But my mom doesnt allow hair dryers, curlers or blowers in the house and allows me to the parlour just for a trim. Any sol involving jus hair oil, shampoo and hair brush.. Pleaaaaase! Sorry for my conditions but i cant help it.

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

There are several products that will add extra curl: Redken ringlets: some of the top salons in New York City use this, and Cat Walk Curls Rock. These are two good products to help you control your curl and don't leave a sticky or stiff feel if you use the amount prescribe on the bottle. Put it on your towel dried hair and while it is drying "au naturel"....haha take your head and throw it up side down and scrunch it up, repeat this several times while drying. You can get it pretty curly or you can control how much curl you want. But it gives a lot of body and bounce to your hair. good luck

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

Try Herbal Essences shampoo. They have shampoo for making a ton of hair styles... they have one for waves... I don't remember what it's called.

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

I'd really like to know why your mom is so messed up. Honey, its 2007 not 1707. What in the Hell? Wow. Ha, I'm So sorry. I think your best bet is to sneak to your friends house in the morning and let her do it. So you can have a computer and sit on that for hours but you cant do your hair and be a normal girl. Yo, you seriously need to talk to your mom!! Thats not fair, how in the world do you get ready to go out!!

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

after shappoing and conditioner kinda dry it with your tower and put gel and moose all your hair (mid amount moose and gel)

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

seems kind of yuck but leave your conditionter in instead of rinsing it out. also you dont need a curling iron to make waves you can use braides and eve things like soda cans with bobbypins and some home health aid type it ya want a little red tint use viniger and dont rinse out but sit out side so the air can take the smell away.

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

perhaps rag curls?

http://beauty.about.com/od/hair/qt/ragcu...

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

ok..this is wut i do for my hair and when im done it looks super cute and i dont even use a hair dryer or curler.......after i get out of the shower i put a little antifrizz sleek and shine stuff...and i just like twist the bottoms and stuff..i just did it on accident one day......but now its super cute!!

HEEEEEEEELp!!?

okay use Herbal essences BODY ENVY shampoo and conditioner. then dry your hair till damp. Next take a gel and put a quarter size amount in your hair. then take your finger and make a curling motion in your hair. Like your bored and twisting it. then, you could put hair spray in it. when it drys it will be curly, but take your fingers and Kinda brush it out. Your hair will hopefully look like her!!

SEDU!!

Best in the world~

CHI's are more well-known and popular. But why settle for the most popular when you can have the best? Celebrities aren't using CHI's on their hair, that's for sure. They use Sedu.

http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_d1...

That site sells them but they also have a review. There are over 3000 comments giving the Sedu an almost perfect 4.5/5 stars. It also has pictures that shows Sedu owners before using it and what their hair looks like after.

I own one, and my hair is super curly. I'm the kind of person that likes pin straight hair so I'll go over the same strands a few times. Overall process would take 45 minutes [on a good day] to an hour. With a Sedu, at MOST it takes 30 minutes, and I rarely have to go over a section of hair more than once. It's a great straightener, I love it. I've used a chi and didn't like it nearly as much as I love my Sedu.

Flat irons?

I've had really good luck with the Chi. It's pretty awesome.

Royal Carribean freedom of the seas - hotel complimentarys?

I was wondering if ur room on the ship came with shampoo and soap and toothpaste and hair dryers and such like that?? Bcuz if there is, then i dont want to over pack,

Royal Carribean freedom of the seas - hotel complimentarys?

I have been on over 30 cruises, 15 of those Royal Carribean, 4 on freedom...it does come with towels, washcloths, and things like that...what it doesnt come with is toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash and other things like that...there are hair dryers, but if you want to bring your own, there are 2-4 outlets in ur stateroom that you can use...there is soap, and if you ever need more, you can ask your stateroom attendent or even leave a simple not, asking for some soap...now with shampoo, it is provided, but if you want to pack some and have room in your suitcase, that would be a good idea because the stuff comes out of a dispenser, and isn't a great thing...it is "no Brand" stuff like tinkertoy said, and isnt something that is top notch...I hope that I helped you, and if you have any further questions, dont hesitate to send me a message!!! = ]

Royal Carribean freedom of the seas - hotel complimentarys?

I have been on many cruises with Royal Caribbean, and other lines, and went on the Freedom last November. Your cabin will include the very basic of toiletries. You will get two room cleans per pay with fresh towels and wash cloths. The cabin will have a small bar of soap which they replenish when necessary. Cabins now have a shampoo dispenser in the shower, rather than individual bottles. The ship does not provide toothpaste and mouth wash. Your cabin will have a hair dryer, usually at the vanity table in your cabin. Royal Caribbean does not have a laundromat but does provide for a fee laundry service, including pressing. They do not provide irons for you to press and request that you do not bring travel irons (for safety sake). Facial tissues are provided also.

I suggest that you pack your usual toiletry items and bring your own shampoo unless you do not mind using a "noname" brand out of a dispenser.

Royal Carribean freedom of the seas - hotel complimentarys?

the cruise line would provide a small bar of soap (which they will replace for you if you need) and a tiny shampoo. You will need to bring toothbrush and toothpaste and what ever other toiletries you like to use. go to cruiseclues.com to get more ideas of how to pack. Good luck.

Royal Carribean freedom of the seas - hotel complimentarys?

All cabins on Royal have shampoo, conditioner and hair dryers. If you don't have enough in your cabin, simply ask the room steward for more- they will be happy to give you extra.

Royal Carribean freedom of the seas - hotel complimentarys?

yes you get all those essentials.

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

i dropped my cell phone in the toilet!. and now it wont work. i took off the battery and sim card and blew dried it with a hair dryer. how else can i help to fix it????? i cant get any pwoer to it and if it doesnt turn on i wont get another phone til im 16. thats 3 more years! HELP! i know i asked this a few min ago but i need answers!

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

besides the hair dryer, the only other thing you can do is give it a few days. I've had wet phones come back to life after several days of drying out.

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

sorry but what was your phone doing by the toliet? you obviously arent responsible enough to have a phone so sorry!

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

admit it it wont work! uve broken it

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

it is not going to work.......... although it might if you replace the battery..... it will be cheaper just to buy a used phone, check ebay for used phones....... you can get them activated for about $20 at your retailer.

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

Open it up. The main circuit is in one peice, so it should come out ok. Now swish the circuit board in a bowl of rubbing alcohol. This displaces any water, then evaporates. Let dry, re-assemble phone. Be careful to note how you take it apart so it can be reassembled correctly! Ask someone to help you-four eyes are better than two. I did this to my phone I put in the washing machine, and got it to work.

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

How do people drop their phones in the toilet? That never ceases to amaze me, yet it's probably the most common excuse for "my phone got wet." It baffles me.

Anyway...

You can try putting your phone in the oven on a warm setting. The water that's inside of your phone acts as a conductor. It connects to parts on the board of your phone that aren't supposed to be connected. That's why a blow dryer can work, but it's not as efficient as an oven. If you take the phone apart (no battery, sim, etc), open it up, and put it in the oven on a warm setting for about ten minutes, the water inside the phone will evaporate. No water, no shorts, the phone should start back up. If it doesn't, you can try to put it in for another ten minutes or so. You don't want to leave it in long enough to let the plastic on the phone melt.

The oven doesn't always work, but the success rate is better than with a hair dryer. The downside is that wetness on the inside of a phone can cause corrosion. You may be able to rescue your phone right now, but it could stop working six months down the road.

In any case, try the oven. You're not going to damage your phone any worse than you already have so it's worth a shot.

EDIT:

Wow, I have two thumbs down even though Yahoo agrees with me:

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

Just try getting a replacement battery first, it could work.

If not, the alcohol suggestion above could work also, just make sure you let it dry fully (like 2 or 3 days) before re-assembling.

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

Great work on taking out the battery! Unfortunately, the phone can still have a lot of moisture inside that are not visible from the outside. Leave the battery out and leave it in a relatively dry spot (like, not in the bathroom, but in your room where it's not humid) for at least several hours. You might have to wait a whole day before you can tell whether the phone will ever work again.

I dropped my phone in a river, and it took me a whole day for the phone to dry out.

HELPPP! my cell phone wont work dropped in toliet!!!!!!!!????

Bring it into your phone service retailer and see if they have a repair center or know of one. My guess is you have ruined the phone.

What did my hamster die from?

I woke up one morning and opened my door, and my dog came into my room and sniffed the hamster cage and then lied down on the floor, and it was really weird, so I opened it up and I poked him, and I thought he was dead because he was freezing cold and not moving, so I carried him downstairs and started getting ready to bury him, but then I noticed that his whiskers were moving a little bit, and I warmed him up with a hair dryer, and then he was alert and acting normal for another few hours, so I put him back in his cage and kept waking him up every hour or so, and then he started getting cold and sluggish again, so I tried to warm him up again, but he died.

What did he die from? It couldn't have been hypothermia because it was summer.

What did my hamster die from?

It's possible that he died from something like cancer or a tumor on the inside. Ours died in a similar way. It was sad.

I'm sorry for your loss.

What did my hamster die from?

How old was he... Hamsters only live for about 2 years. So sorry for your loss!

What did my hamster die from?

I'm sorry for your loss.

By you warming him up, which is wonderful that it was your instict to do that for him, really just prolonged his death.

It really could have been a variety of things. Since you don't speak of anything else except him being cold and limp, it may have just been his time to go. Hamsters don't live much more than 2 to 3 years.

If he was young, it may have been an illness that you didn't detect. Unless he was from a reputable breeder(not a petstore), who breed to perfect their genes and make strong and healthy hamsters, it could have been bad breeding.

I once had a pregnant hamster(it was many years ago, I bought her pregnant)who was likely impregnanted by a sibling, and almost all of here litter, but 3, died under a year old with no signs of illness. The other 3 lived out their life never really doing much of anything but eating and sleeping. I think their brains didn't develope properly, or something.

What did my hamster die from?

hi Ive read something about hamsters hybernating when they are cold so i guess it died by dehydration it was hybernating and it was thirsty Dont be sad You Did What Anyone would Do.

What did my hamster die from?

My daughter bought a hamster , and he also died. They only live for around two yrs. She bought anothe one, and the same thing happened, so it's nothing to do with anythibg but old age bor these little guys. They should explain this to U at the pet store, but then they wouldn't be selling too many hamsters. I hope U had a nice funeral for him.lol

What did my hamster die from?

Hamsters can live up to 4 years. And hamsters can get sick even if they're very healthy. ring your pet to the vet and ask... But since you do not have your hamster, the vet cannot examine him to see.. I'm srry for ur loss.

What did my hamster die from?

did you find a little empty bottle of hamster painkillers in his cage? maybe he was bummed cause the dog got to walk around all smug while he was stuck in his cage its common in hamster depression casses

What did my hamster die from?

well u said he died while u were warming him up, well maybe he over heated?

A Laptops Worse Nightmare!?

So yesterday, my 1year old dumps soda(coke) on my laptop to the point it actually wont power on, what I did was this...wipped off as much as I could and then placed it near a fan, after a bit it still was wet so I took a hair dryer (on light heat) and dried it out that way...still nothing...I then let it sit in the sun for a bit and still nothing...so I took it to the sink , thinking if I can wash out some of the soda maybe it will help, so I raised it with tap water and let it dry over night....NOW it is trying to power up the battery light is on and when I push the power button it trys to boot up, there is no picture yet though. So what does this mean? Can my little laptop be saved?

Thank you

A Laptops Worse Nightmare!?

I've know of cases when something similar happened and after a few days the computer will suddendly work, but I think your best bet is to take it to technical assistance. You will read all sorts of solutions but most of them will imply opening the laptop's case, and you might do so major damage if you don't know what you're doing. Your laptop can definitely be saved, but let the pros fix it.
