Can a white mark(from ironing)be removed from wood table.to save sanding?

my daughter was ironing on a towel on the table. because it was an iron on patch the iron had to be in one place for 20 sec. hence the triangle white mark. some say the hair dryer will evaperate the trapped moisture. how long should i hold hair dryer in 1 spot? %26amp; will this buckel my table?

Don is absolutely correct, but I will also add one more method I read and tried from a woodworker's magazine years ago. Rub a teaspoon of mayonnaise with a soft cloth into the stain and then put a tablespoon of it on the top. Let it sit overnight and wipe it away in the morning. Repeat one more time only if needed. Dont have a clue why mayo works, but I have used it for years now and I know it does. Good luck and I hope this helps you

Whoa! Hold off on the dryer and get some denatured alcohol. Take a small soft cotton rag about 5"x5" and ball it up inside a large piece of clean cotton cloth. Before covering the small piece put a few 3-4 drops of alcohol onto it then rap it up tight twist the top and you now have a polishers tampon. Lightly and fast rub the spotted area two or three times in a straight line. See if it does anything. Keep working the tampon over the spot with long straight rubs, add some more alcohol and it should come off. When your done with the spot try doing the whole table top remember straight rubs long ways from end to end. This is called french polishing. After your done let it dry for 24 hrs and wax it using a good paste furniture wax. Hope this helps
