How can you use American appliances in Europe?

My grandmother is going to England, Scottland and Spain, and wants to bring her hair dryer.

Adapters are available from Radio Shack, etc. for the foreign plug types.

she should get a universal energy adapter...ac adapter..

Yes. With an adapter, this should be no problem.

If the hair dryer already supports dual voltage (many do), then all she needs to a plug adapter. If not, she'll need a voltage converter plus an adapter.

i live in europe now and NONE of my american appliances work unless you run them on a transformer. when i brought my hair dryer and tried it (it has a 110/220 switch) it burned it out so it might be best to check and see if the hotel she is staying in doesnt have hair dryers already installed in the rooms as most of the hotels in europe do, that would save her having to bring hers.
