My game boy advance got submerged in water. Is it garbage or can I revive it?

well my gameboy advance got wet and I tapped all the water I could outta it and I immediately took the hair dryer to it...I need to know what else to do with it...I did try to turn it on it worked but then got a little weird...I think it is still wet inside and do not want it to be broken:( of course! But my question what should I do now? and do you think it will be ok to play in a day or two? also it happened like 2 hours ago...

You might have killed it when you tried to turn it on so soon, but it sounds like it might be okay.

It could easily take a month or a year to dry out, depending on how much dry air flows past the electronics. With the thing entirely disassembled and laid out like a dissected frog, it might take at a couple days to dry.

There is some ways to speed things up. First, as I already hinted, disassemble and open it up as much as possible. Second, put it in a warm dry spot with air flow. Third, you can actually dissolve and wash away the water using isopropyl alcohol - if you can get your hands on some (do not substitute rubbing alcohol for this).

If you dry it completly and it still does not work, you may be able to fix it by cleaning the circuit board inside. This requires disassembly, and these toys do not come apart very easy.

The other answers before mine are also good, except it takes a lot longer to dry than some of them think.

Good luck.

I think the circuits are probably fried.

No, on the plug in don't plug it in for a month put it in the sun every time it's a warm hot day.. After that plug it in it might work. If you plug it in wet forget it. It's history.. If you'd waited for it to dry all the way out, it would be fine.

Hm, shouldn't have turned it on if it's still wet.

Disconnect the battery right away.

If you have the tool for opening it up, open it up!

Use toilet paper to blot away obvious water drops.

If you see what looks like greenish powdered sugar, gently brush that away with a q-tip.

Dry off your battery pack.

Set it in front of a fan or something (don't heat it up past 100 degrees fahrenheit -- the temperature of your hand!) for a couple of hours.

Then you should probably let it sit a day or two to be sure it's completely dry.

Reassemble.

Don't throw it away. There's a chance that it could get better. When my cell phone got submerged in water, it did not work well for a month. But, after that, it started working fine.
