If you live in an apartment what electrical appliances do you unplugg when they are not in use?

What electrical appliances do you unplug when they are not in use? I could understand things like a hair dryer, alarm clock, coffee pot, cell phone charger, space heater, but what about tv,dvd, vcr, nintendo?

What does it mean to have your tv on standby? Does this just mean turning it off but not unplugging it?

If you have a pc (computer) what is the based way to conserve energy when not using it?

If you unplugged the refridgerator when you are not home for 8 hours a day wouldn't that mess up your food? Don't you save money by making sure the door stays tightly sealed when you shut it or by adjusting the settings?

Microwave?

Do not turn off the refrigerator. Doing so would affect the food and would not save much electricity. (It take more energy to cool the refrigerator down again than to keep it cold.)

Do not turn off or unplug the alarm clock or VCR; if you do, then you will have to set them to the correct time again when you turn them on or plug them in.

Do unplug or turn off hair dryers, coffee pots, and computers because they can overheat if something goes wrong while you are gone and break or even start a fire.

Take the cell phone charger with you, in case you need to recharge the cell phone before you return.
