How do you wash your dog throught he winter months?

I have a 7 month old Golden retriever and was wonder how you people wash your dogs in winter. I usually wash her in the tub but I dont want to put her outside in the cold when she is wet. Can I use a hair dryer to dry her fur???

I've had dozens of long haired show dogs and all of them were dried with a blow dryer after bathing. Be sure you don't bath too often, especially in winter, give her either a salmon oil capsule daily or 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil on her food to keep her skin and coat in great condition. After she's bathed and towel dried, turn your blow dryer on a low heat and simultaneously brush and dry. If you brush through the hair as it's drying, it not only dries faster, but your dog will be gorgeous when you're done.

Yes, lowest setting and move it around lots so it doesn't burn her skin. Washing your dog removes all the natural oils in the coat so I wouldn't recommend this unless she gets really dirty. You should wash your dog annually 1-3 times a year. They wash themselves.

We wash our dog in the tub and keep him inside. Turn the heat up just a bit. You can use a hair dryer, but not too hot if she will sit still for it. Also, keep the hair dryer moving, not just in one spot for too long. Our dog doesn't sit still for it.

Do not bathe a dog unless it really needs it. Then be sure it is dry, dry, dry, before letting it out in the cold.

It doesn't really get below 40 here, so we just wash her in the tub. We use a hair dryer on my little Shih Tzu, we just use the lowest setting.

I wash bathe my dog winter, summer, spring and fall. You could dry her./ him with a blow dryer just be very careful not to burn her. I would towel dry very well first to remove all excess water. Lab's have a coat that holds the water. Good luck and God bless

Wash her up in the bathtub or there is some spray on shampoo with no water needed at petco.com. I read people reviews and they said that it is good for washing up dogs in the winter times in doors. Plus i know you don't want to be outside in the water in the cold when it is snowing.

Yes it is ok to use the blow dryer, as others have said just keep it moving. Most dryers today have a cool air setting, and we use that mostly with our Bichons, alternating with the regular heat. Depends on the dog about the speed. One of ours likes the wind in her face, the other likes low speed.

Bathe her in the bathtub, the towel dry as much as possible. Then, yes you can use a hair dryer, set on the lowest heat possible.

Hey there. I just washed my dog yesterday =)

I was my dog in the laundry room in my basement...I just set the temperate at like 20 degrees so she doesnt get a cold...I dry her with a towel. And after I take her upstairs where again I put the heat higher...and my dog is not really a fan of the hair dryer lol....but I guess after a while they get used to it...just dont put the speed at high...cause its louder and it can freak them out....and remember to move the dryer A LOT...because you dont want to burn your dog's skin...might sound silly...but if that happens...I dont think they dog will want to get near a dryer ever again lol...

you can take buckets of warm water to wash your dog also...a tub can be quite messy if the dog doesnt want to cooperate... =p

if i can do it you can too...you can do it too (i gave my 3 cats a shower yesterday too...yes cat need to be washed too...and cat dont hate water like people say...anyway im going off topic oops lol)...

Good Luck!!! :)
