Important. My dad has water in his ears and he can't get it out. Help Please.?

He tried using a q-tip and a hair-dryer. Also leaned his head to one side. Is there anything else he can do to try to get it out. It's driving him crazy.

Try adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the ear, that always works for me.

plug the ear that doesnt have the water...

best way, fill up the tub. put his head in, tell him to rotate to fill the ear with more water. now after the ear has more water, try leaning his head. it should all come out. it will if done right. it happened to me before

They have drops for that. Also, if you dont have that, pour a little rubbing alcohol in each ear. Then turn over and the water will come out with it. So now your dad can have some peace of mind

He probaby needs meds. That happened to my daughter and I thought she was just being dramatic, but it started to hurt. She had to get medicine from the doctor because the water was in so deep it wouldn't drain. It was just laying there. I know it sounds stupid but it can happen. If by morning its not gone, I would go see the doctor before it hurts.

There are "swimmer's ear" eardrops that help dry up the water. You can get them at most drugstores, but if you don't have any you can basically make the same thing using equal amounts of isopropanol (isopropyl alcohol) and vinegar, and then moisten a cotton ball and use it to drop a couple drops into the ear (the isopropanol/vinegar mix is also a lot cheaper!). This will help dry up the water and also can kill bacteria. Good luck!

What has worked for me in the past most of the time is this, if the water is in the right ear, lean head to right and hop up and down with right leg, if its in the left tilt head to the left and hop up and down with left leg. Sometimes it will jimmy and loosen up.

With me I sometimes l get a napkin or towel, place it on the ground, and then put my head on it leaning to a side. Sometimes the water comes out if you hold his head down for a minute. I hope it helps!
