Restoring Cello wrap or shrinkwrapping an item?

I have a collectible that is in the original box, but the cello wrap is gone. Is there somewhere (preferably here in the Denver metro area) where I can take it to be "re-cello"'d? Is that even possible?

Or, can I get the shrink wrap that you heat with hair dryer and do that? My only concern is that might damage the vintage item inside. Should I just leave well enough alone? I do want to protect my vintage item and the original box. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Whether or not I would use the shrink wrap would depend on how fragile the vintage item is. Have you considered purchasing a display case, such as the type you purchase for completed model vehicles to place the item and packaging in.--That way both could be preserved and displayed as well. Of course, that would only be feasible if the vintage item isn't too large. (The car display cases are available at Wal Mart and Hobby supply stores.)

I think that you should just leave it alone. I too wouldn't want to damage the piece inside.

One movie house here in my town that cello wraps there movie (VHS) boxes. You may want to check with your movie places. They may do it for nothing.

I've seen the shrink wrap sold at Michael's crafts. I personally would do the shrink wrap idea, it doesn't require much heat and if you have someone else do it, they may mis-handle your item.

If you want to do the shrink-wrap, call around to your local craft stores and ask or even a floral/gift-basket shop may do it if you offer to pay. Good luck!
