If I bought an appliance in europe, let's say a hair dryer, would I be able to use it in the US with just the Eur--%26gt;US plug adapter, or would I also need a voltage converter?

As UK/EU power is much stronger than the us, when the hair dryer is plugged in here in the us barely any air blows through the hairdryer. But my hair straighteners work fine because you can adjust the heat on the side.
However most appliances are way way cheaper in the us than uk or eu

Any way there's a remote possibility of Europe appliances work with US mains.

Be very careful. You need a plug converter and a current converter 220v to 110 v. If the device uses any timing mechanisms,it is also likely to give you grief

Many European devices (especially cell phones, laptops...) come with chargers that support 100 to 240v (it will say on the back). There are travel hair dryers that support that too.
Actually my electric toothbrush doesnt, but it still works, it just takes longer to charge it...

I bought a European depilatory machine and I just use a simple plug adaptor. It works a little quieter, but since European appliances use more electricity, the worst case senario is that the hair dryer won't work as well.
