Use the relationship power = current x voltage to find out how much current is drawn by a 1200-watt hair dryer when it operates on 120 volts. Then use Ohm's law to find the resistance of the hair dryer.
Current vs. Voltage?
Current = 10 amps
Resistance of dryer = 12 ohms
Current vs. Voltage?
P = V.I
1200 W = 120V * I
I = 1200/120 = 10 A
V = RI
R = V/I = 120V/10A = 12 ohm
Current vs. Voltage?
P=EI therefore I=P/E=10Amps. E=IR Therefore R=E/I =120/10 R=12 Ohms
