Power problem Physics?

A hair dryer is rated at 1875 watts and operates on a 120V voltage source. What is it's resistance and how much current does it use?

Power problem Physics?

P=VI

1875=120I

I=15.625A

V=IR

120=(15.625)R

R=7.68 ohm

the current that hasbeen use 15.625A

Power problem Physics?

P=IV -%26gt;you can use this readily to calculate current

but V=IR

so P=(V^2)/R -%26gt;you can use this to calculate resistance

Power problem Physics?

Your power is : P = 1875 w

Your potential is: V = 120 v

Solve for current: I = P/V.

Solve for resistance using: P = I^2R

You can find these formulas in your physics book and do the math yourself.
