Will I ruin my laptop if I use it with an electrical adapter?

I am traveling from the U.S. to Denmark tomorrow and would like to take my laptop with me. I've been there many times in the past and know that I have to have a electricity converter to use my own electrical devices. However, I remember wrecking a hair dryer because although the plug fit with the use of the adapter, the electrical current was too much. Wrecking a hair dryer is one thing....wrecking my laptop would kill me.

A converter will work just fine. Get one that converts 220-240 back into 120...all will be well!

Ask the manufacturer which adaptors are approved by them.

Insure that your adapter will provide the right amount of current to your laptop before you plug it into the laptop. Like you, a hairdryer is nothing, my laptop is my life.. LOL

Why don't you check out the website to the people that manufactured your laptop. You could probably e-mail them and they can give you a answer that would be suited to what you have.

look and see what kind of adapter the labtop takes. Make sure the numbers are correct and the type of current it takes is the same as well.

I will use a 12V AC (alternating current) adapter as and example.

Check the manufacture to see what kinda of adapter is used for the labtop. If it is a 12V AC then get a 12V AC adapter for it. Don't get a 12V DC (Direct Current) though. Make Sure that you match up the Numbers and letters. A 9V AC won't work as well. It wouldn't have enouph power to run it properly and if you use too high of a number such as 15V AC you could fry your labtop.
