My refrigerator no longer dispenses water. Any suggestions?

For a while my side by side fridge would not make ice. Somebody on Yahoo answers suggested using a hair dryer to thaw the water inlet tube and it worked! Now it makes ice but doesn't dispense water. Tried changing the water filter but it still doesn't work.

There could be a blockage in the plastic tubing, maybe lime deposits or something. Try using a pipe cleaner to clear it.

the obvious thing to do which i went without water for two days

before calling the fridge maker is to check your "dispenser lock

button" duh i felt so stupid ...other wise its a clog in the line

If it makes Ice then water is getting to the ice maker. Probably the line from the ice maker to the dispenser is clogged. Clean out with pipe cleaner or something, if it still doesn't work you will need a new switch,.

The water solenoid valve on the back of the ref. is probably bad. This is the part that the water supply line from the house attaches to. It has two outlets on it controlled by solenoids. One can work (for the ice maker) %26amp; the water dispenser one can be bad.
